Sunday Sport Update

The Kildare Men and Ladies footballers continue their league campaigns today.

Gaelic Games:

Kildare hurlers began their League campaign with a win yesterday, beating Carlow 0-25 to 0-11 points  in Netwatch Cullen Park.

Kildare lead at half time by 11 points to 6.  

They dominated the 2nd half outscoring Carlow 14 points to 5.

Kildare manager David Herity praises his backroom team for the hurlers run of good form.

We’ll have the full interview with David Herity later this afternoon.

Next up for the hurlers is at home to Down next Sunday in St. Conleth’s Park.

 

Elsewhere in Divison 2, Kerry beat Derry 2-22 to 0-13 points.

Today, it’s the turn of the footballers – men and women.

Glenn Ryan’s team play Cork in St. Conleth’s Park at 2pm.

In the opening Six Nations game, Ireland had a comfortable 34-10 win over Wales in Cardiff.

Scotland beat England 29-23 in Twickenham.

Today, Italy host France at 2pm.

Soccer:

In the Premier League yesterday, leaders Arsenal lost I-0 to Everton.

Manchester United beat Crystal Palace 2-1 and go third.

Liverpool lost again, this time 3-nil at Wolves.

TODAY:

Notts Forest v Leeds at 2pm.

Spurs v Man City at 4.30.

Boxing:

A rematch between Irish boxer Katie Taylor and Puerto Rico's Amanda Serrano will take place in Dublin in May.

Taylor, who's the undisputed lightweight champion won the last fight between the pair on a points decision last April.

Serrano set up the rematch by beating Erika Cruz in New York last night to unify all the belts in the featherweight division.

Racing:

Its Day 2 of the Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardsown.

There are four Grade 1 races on the card, including the Irish Champion Hurdle.

Racing begins at 1.10pm.
