The final score was 1-12 to 0-10.

GAA

The Kildare senior footballers suffered their third defeat in Division 1 of the Allianz National Football League last night, losing 1-12 to 0-10 points against Armagh at the Athletic Grounds.

The Lillies were well in the game at half time, trailing by a single point, but their opponents kicked on in the second period, and Kildare only managed to register a further 4 points.

Next up is a home game against Monaghan next Sunday, as part of a double header with the hurlers who play Westmeath.

Here's manager Glenn Ryan:

Today, Donegal play Monaghan and Tyrone face Dublin.

There was better news for the U20 hurlers yesterday, who registered a three point victory over neighbours Carlow in Hawkfield.

The full time score in that Leinster League game was Kildare 1-18 Carlow 1-15.

The senior camogie side lost out to Meath by 8 points, 0-14 0-6.

This afternoon, the minor camogie team are in the All Ireland B semi final in Tang GAA.

They play Laois, with the game throwing in at 3pm.

SOCCER

It's a busy day in the Premier League today with 6 games down for decision.

5 games start at 2pm as Chelsea play Newcastle, Everton are at home to Wolves, Leeds play Norwich, Southampton take on Watford and West Ham play Aston Villa.

Then, at 4.30pm, it's Arsenal vs Leicester.

RUGBY

Following Ireland's win in the Six Nations against England yesterday, attention turns to the local scene this afternoon, as the 2nd round of the Provincial Towns Cup gets underway.

All games start at 2pm and a number of Kildare teams are involved.

Athy play North Kildare, Naas are away to Ashbourne and Newbridge are at home to Clondalkin.

Edenderry face Kilkenny and Tullow take on Dundalk.

Elsewhere, in the Bank of Ireland Metropolitan Cup 1st Round, Blackrock College play MU Barnhall in Stradbrook at 3pm.

BOXING

Irish boxer Michael Conlan says he's "all good" after a brutal knockout from Leigh Wood sent him through the ropes and onto the floor in Nottingham last night.

Wood retained his WBA featherweight title with the win, but there were concerns for Conlan's wellbeing after the fight.

The 30-year-old posted a video from hospital to tell fans his tests came back clear, before writing "definitely want a rematch" on Twitter.

Also on that card last night, Naas boxer Gary Cully defeated Miquel Vazquez, with a fifth round stoppage.

That moves Cully onto 14 fights unbeaten.

HORSE RACING

And racing today is in Limerick and Naas.

The first at the Kildare track goes to post at 1.45pm, while the action begins in Limerick ten minutes later.
