BOXING

Michaela Walsh has secured Ireland’s second medal at the European Elite Women’s Championships.

She beat Romania’s Claudia Nechita by majority decision in their flyweight quarter-final.

Earlier, Mayo’s Shannon Sweeney guaranteed herself at least a bronze by forcing a second round stoppage in her 48kg quarter-final with Slovakia’s Nicole Durikova.

However, Carly McNaul lost her light flyweight quarter-final to Italy’s Olena Savchuk by split decision.

In the evening session, Amy Broadhurst and Christina Desmond are both in quarter-final action.

RUGBY UNION

Munster have multiple injury concerns ahead of Saturday’s United Rugby Championship meeting with Leinster at the RDS.

Eadestown's Tadhg Beirne and Craig Casey have groin injuries, while Edwin Edogbo needs a scan on a calf issue.

Calvin Nash and Stephen Archer will have their availability assessed closer to the game.

But Roman Salanoa is following the return-to-play protocols.

RUGBY LEAGUE

There's action in Pool D of the Rugby League World Cup this evening.

Tonga take on Papua New Guinea in St. Helens, where kick-off is at 7.30pm.

GAELIC GAMES

The All-Ireland Ladies Club Football Championship Finals are to be played at Croke Park for the first time.

Both the intermediate and senior finals will be staged at HQ on Saturday, December 10th.

The Junior final will be played the following day, with a venue still to be determined.

This Sunday's LGFA Leinster Championship semi-final between Eadestown & Tinahely of Wicklow will now be played at 1pm, in Eadestown GAA.

KFM will have live updates of the game, on 'Sunday Sportsbeat'.

SOCCER

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Diogo Jota will miss next month’s World Cup.

The Portugal striker suffered a calf injury in Sunday’s 1-0 win at home to Manchester City in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Klopp has rejected claims his comments prior to the City game about State-owned clubs were xenophobic.

He said no-one can compete with the riches of City, Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle.

But he denies his comments were discriminatory:

Wolves caretaker boss Steve Davis believes Leixlip's Nathan Collins’ return to the side will add some much needed leadership.

The Republic of Ireland defender is available for tonight’s trip to Crystal Palace having served a three-match suspension.

There’s an 8.15pm start at Selhurst Park.

Tonight’s other Premier League game sees bottom side Nottingham Forest go to Brighton.

SNOOKER

Two Irish players will be in second round action this evening at the Northern Ireland Open in Belfast.

Aaron Hill takes on former world champion Judd Trump, while Gerard Greene plays Robert Milkins.
