Tottenham have confirmed the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach.

The Australian has signed a four-year deal with the Premier League club.

He leaves for London after two years in charge of Celtic.

Postecoglou guided the Glasgow club to a domestic treble on Saturday, after their win over Inverness in the Scottish Cup final.

His coaching staff at Tottenham will be confirmed in due course.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy says Postecoglou will bring a "positive mentality" and a "fast, attacking style of play"

World Cup winner Alexis MacAllister who has family routes in Naas, is set to join Liverpool from Brighton.

The 24 year old Argentina midfielder has a release clause between 45 and 55 million pounds in his contract.

Republic of Ireland under 21 manager Jim Crawford has named a 26 man squad for three friendlies against Gabon, Ukraine and Kuwait in Austria next week.

Nine players receive their first call ups.

They are James Abankwah, Killian Cahill, Conor Carty, Dylan Duffy, Sean Grehan, Jack Henry-Francis, Ed McJannet, Rocco Vata and Harry Vaughan.

Wolves midfielder Joe Hodge is also included.

The games are part of the build up for the European Championship qualifiers with Turkey and San Marino in September.

He will take over from Scott Robertson in August.

The quarter final action at the French Open in Paris is underway.

In the first of the last eight ties in the women's singles, Karolina Muchova beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in straight sets.

Next up is the meeting of second seed Aryna Sabalenka and Elina Svitolina.

In the men's singles, both Novak Djokovic and world number one Carlos Alcaraz take to the court in the men's quarter-finals.

Djokovic plays Karen Khachanov, while Alcaraz faces Stefanos Tsitsipas.
