The opening round of the Auld Shebeen Athy Intermediate & Joe Mallon Motors Senior football championships have been confirmed.

The intermediate round will be played on Thursday & Saturday July 27th & 29th while the senior championship first round will be played on the Friday & Saturday.

The Tom Cross Junior championship begins this weekend which also sees the Hanlon Concrete Division 1 senior football league semi finals Naas v Celbridge & Sarsfields v Moorefield & the remaining Division 2 & 3 games.

The FAI has welcomed the announcement by the Government of additional funding to support women's and girls' football in this country.

€500,000 will be earmarked for grassroots girls' programmes, adult women recreational football and women in football leadership programmes.

The senior women's team play France in a friendly at Tallaght Stadium tomorrow night before flying to Australia for the World Cup finals.

Galtier guided the club to the French title, but they fell short in the Champions League and Lionel Messi left for Inter Miami.

Galtier is to stand trial in December over allegations of racial discrimination at his former club Nice.
