The 30-year-old back row has signed a two-year contract extension.

Butler - who represented Australia at under-20 level - has made 90 appearances for Connacht since joining in 2017.

It's believed the current Leinster backs coach Felipe Contepomi is being lined up as part of Cheika's backroom team.

Novak Djokovic is in the draw for the BNP Paribas Open - but doubts remain whether he will be permitted entry to the US.

The world number one last month revealed he has not received a Covid-19 vaccination.

However, his name appeared in the draw for the tournament at Indian Wells, which begins on Sunday.

Any non-US citizen wishing to enter the country must be vaccinated.

MOTORSPORT

Russian company Uralkali has requested a refund from Haas after the Formula One team terminated its sponsorship deal amid the war in Ukraine.

The potash producer says it's already paid for the upcoming season and wants that money back.

Uralkali is owned by the father of axed driver Nikita Mazepin who was released from his contract with Haas following his countries invasion of Ukraine.
