GAA

The Kildare Minor Footballers played Louth in the Leinster minor championship in Manguard Park, Hawkfield yesterday.

Louth beat Kildare with a final score of Louth 1-14, Kildare 1-12.

 

 

The Kildare U20 Footballers continue a busy week for Kildare teams tonight.

They play Westmeath in the Leinster championship in Kinnegad at 7.30pm.

In Division 1

Ardclough 3-20, Eire Og Corra Choill 3-17.

Confey 3-15, Celbridge 1-18.

Coill Dubh 3-23, Maynooth 1-19.

Division 2

Wolfe Tones 3-15, Clane 1-18.

Moorefield 2-18, Kilcock 3-10.

 

SOCCER

Republic of Ireland boss Carla Ward believes consistency will be key, if they're to continue making progress in their World Cup qualification campaign

The Girls in Green picked up the first win of the group last night, with a 3-2 win over Poland in Gdansk.

The win leaves them in third in Group B ahead of a return fixture at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.

The Netherlands are top of the group, after a 2-1 win over France.

 

Liverpool boss Arne Slot believes there were positives to take from their Champions League exit to holders Paris Saint-Germain.

The Merseysiders were beaten 2-nil at Anfield - losing the quarter-final tie 4-nil on aggregate.

Atletico Madrid are through to the semi-finals.

They beat Barcelona 3-2 on aggregate despite losing the second leg 2-1.

 

Two more teams will look to secure semi-final spots this evening.

Arsenal will be hoping to bounce back from a surprise defeat Bournemouth at the weekend when they face Sporting, where they carry a 1-0 lead into that one.

While Real Madrid will look to overturn a 2-1 loss in the first leg when they face Bayern Munich.

Both of those games kick-off at 8pm.

 

RUGBY

Preparations are continuing today ahead of Ireland's second round Women's Six Nations clash with Italy this weekend.

Scott Bemand's side suffered defeat against England at Twickenham on Saturday, and will be hoping to bounce back with a win.

Italy were also beaten in their opener, with France running out 40-7 winners.

Head coach Scott Bemand is set to name his squad tomorrow.

 

Nick Timoney is a doubt for Ulster this weekend, with the province due to face Leinster in the URC.

The back-rower picked up a hip injury in their Challenge Cup victory over La Rochelle at the weekend.

A decision will be made on his availability ahead of the URC clash.
