New figures reveal that 271 new homes commenced construction in Kildare in the first quarter of 2026
The latest data released today by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage shows that the number of new homes being built in Kildare is growing, indicating building momentum in the county and nationally.
It's an increase of 18% compared to the 229 units commenced during the first quarter of 2025.
Nationally, 8,408 new homes have been commenced, an increase of 184% on the 2,961 units commenced during the first quarter of 2025.
Of all units commenced in the first quarter of 2026 (January to March), 35% (2,921 units) were in the four Dublin local authorities.
By Local Authority, the most units commenced this year have been in Fingal County (1,048), followed by Dublin City (721) and South Dublin County (682).
