File image: Irish Blood Transfusion Service

The Irish Blood Transfusion service is urging people across Kildare to donate next week.

The Irish Blood Transfusion service has said blood supply is at a critical level with only a couple of days of supply in stock coming into the bank holiday weekend.

It's urging people to donate if they can, especially -O donors, as it is a universal blood type which can be administered to everyone.

There are two clinics running in Kildare next week.

Tuesday May 3rd- Thursday May 5th

Sarsfield GAA, Rickardstown, Newbridge from 3.45 until 8pm.

Glenroyal Hotel, Maynooth  from 3.45 until 8pm.

Sunday 8th May

Glenroyal Hotel, Maynooth from 12 noon until 3.30pm.

All clinics are appointment based.

To book an appointment call 1800 731 137.

National Donor Services Manager, Stephen Cousins spoke to Eoin Beatty about the current level of supply on Kildare Focus:
