She said it is due to "personal circumstances" and that it was not "an easy decision".
Fine Gael Cllr Lumi Panaite Fahey, who represents the Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District, is to resign her position as a councillor on October 23rd.
She said it is due to "personal circumstances" and that it was not "an easy decision".
She explained how it has been "a great experience working for the community of Celbridge, Leixlip and Ardclough for the past 16 months".
Fine Gael is expected to convene a meeting in November to select Ms Fahey's replacement for co-option to Kildare County Council.
Speaking to Kfm, Ms Fahey said she is resigning because she recently changed roles at work and that it is a "balancing act".
Kfm understands that Ms Fahey now has to commute longer distances as a Solicitor, meaning she can not fully commit to the role as Cllr as well as working as a Solicitor.
She said she is "upset" about the decision but "Fine Gael have been very supportive".
When asked if she considered the workload before she took on the role as Cllr, she said her work position only changed "recently".
