Deputy Naoise Ó Cearúil called for progress on efforts to restore a safe bus stop at Old Bog Road.
At the end of 2025, local residents along the Old Bog Road at Kellegher’s Cross highlighted their confusion after the sudden removal of a local bus stop on Kildare Today.
The stop was removed after Bus Éireann deemed the location unsuitable from a safety perspective.
Today, Kildare North TD Naoise Ó Cearúil called for progress on efforts to restore a safe bus stop at Old Bog Road after receiving a direct response from the National Transport Authority outlining the current position on the Route 115 stop.
In correspondence to Deputy Ó Cearúil, CEO of the NTA, Hugh Creegan, confirmed that Kildare County Council is now assessing whether a redesigned stop could be developed under the Bus Stop Enhancement Programme.
Deputy Ó Cearúil said the removal of the stop has caused difficulties for many local residents who rely on public transport, saying “people locally understand that safety has to come first, particularly following concerns that were raised about the area."
Speaking recently on Kildare Today, local resident David Findon said how the removal had a real impact on locals who depend on the service.
It's understood The NTA confirmed that a site survey has already been completed and that Kildare County Council intends to appoint a consultant to carry out a preliminary assessment.
Deputy Ó Cearúil said he will continue engaging with the NTA, Bus Éireann and Kildare County Council as the review progresses.
