Independent Councillor Fiona McLoughlin-Healy has announced that she will not seek re-election at the next Kildare County Council elections.
In a statement, the Newbridge representative citied backlash from a recent appearance on an RTE Investigates programme as the reason for the decision.
She states her hope, that by announcing her intentions to retire from local politics now, other women will have time to considering running.
