High Court to consider whether Fiona McLoughlin Healy can pursue challenge over Kildare County Council land deals
A High Court hearing on Friday 17th April will consider whether a former Kildare county councillor can be granted protection from legal costs, in order to pursue a case regarding her concerns about how publicly owned land was valued, and disposed of, by Kildare County Council.
Former councillor Fiona McLoughlin Healy has engaged Newbridge firm Burns McGrath O’Sullivan Solicitors to act on her behalf.
The application arises from proceedings taken against the State, the Minister for Housing and Kildare County Council, focusing on the procedures by which council-owned land is disposed of to private individuals and whether statutory safeguards — designed to ensure best value and proper oversight — are being fully applied.
The immediate issue before the Court is whether the applicant, former councillor Fiona McLoughlin Healy, acting in what she maintains is the public interest, should be protected from the potentially prohibitive cost of continuing the case.
