It's believed drugs were flown by private plane into Longford airfield
€8.4 million worth of cocaine has been seized in Co Westmeath.
It follows gardaí stopping two vehicles in the area of Lough Owel, shortly after 6pm yesterday.
Follow up searches were conducted at properties in Naas and Waterford City, and an aircraft in Longford has been seized.
It's understood the drugs were flown in on the private plane at an airfield in Longford.
Two men, age 54 and 40 years, were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and are currently being detained, at Ashbourne Garda Station, in Co. Meath.
Detective Chief Superintendent Seamus Boland, head of the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, says the investigation is continuing with the help of international law enforcement agencies:
