“It is inevitable – unless brought to an end by the law, there will be fatalities,” the judge warned
A judge has warned that lives will be lost in an escalating feud between two rival factions in Carbury.
Six men appeared in Naas District Court following a series of violent incidents in the past week, including a foiled arson attack.
Gardaí prevented a potential tragedy after discovering 19 petrol bombs in a car linked to one of the groups.
According to the Journal, Judge Desmond Zaidan said it's “a miracle” that no one had died, after hearing about an incident where a garda was forced to draw a handgun to stop a man armed with a meat cleaver.
“It is inevitable – unless brought to an end by the law, there will be fatalities,” the judge warned
The feud, which has intensified over the past two months, has seen up to 20 arson attacks and multiple firearm incidents.
Describing weapons found in the car as "like implements from the Stone Age," Judge Zaidan warned that the violence is heading towards inevitable fatalities.
All six accused were denied bail and will appear in court again on September 11.
