However, the project’s progress now waits on national funding.
Kildare County Council have reached an agreement to develop a fire station site located within the curtilage of the recently acquired Moore Abbey lands, in Monasterevin.
In a recent Newbridge-Kildare MD meeting, a question was raised by Sinn Féin Councillor Noel Connolly asking if the council could outline an expected timeline for the provision of a new Fire Station in Monasterevin, and its plans for the current site?
It's understood, the council have written to the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management requesting to be considered for inclusion on the next round of capital funding, and are very hopeful of a postive outcome in this regard.
The timeline for delivery of the new station is dependant upon the release of those funds, however, it is understood with recent experience gained from the delivery of the new fire station at Maynooth, Connolly says they can expect a timeline of approx 2 years.
The future use of the current fire station building/site at Monasterevin will be a matter for consideration by management team.
