Ranger was the only finalist representing Kildare and one of just three pets shortlisted in the Bravest Pet category
Kildare dog Ranger Dunne has been recognised as a national finalist in the Bravest Pet Award category at the 2026 Petmania Ruby Heart Awards, which celebrate Ireland's most inspiring pets and animal welfare champions.
After receiving more than 700 nominations from across Ireland, just 30 finalists representing 15 counties were selected for the national awards ceremony in Kilkenny.
Ranger was the only finalist representing Kildare and one of just three pets shortlisted in the Bravest Pet category.
Diagnosed with osteosarcoma at just one year old, Ranger underwent the amputation of a front leg followed by six rounds of chemotherapy. Despite the challenges he faced, he continues to thrive, bringing joy to everyone he meets with his resilience, determination and positive spirit.
