Tipperary has seen an 87% decrease in road deaths so far this year, dropping from 16 fatalities last year to just two, making it one of the safest counties.
Kildare’s road death total has risen by 100pc, increasing from three last year to six this year.
Road safety advocates have expressed confusion over the significant increase in road fatalities in certain counties, even as neighbouring areas have seen a decrease.
To date, 120 people have lost their lives on Irish roads this year, marking an increase of over 13% compared to the same period last year, which saw 103 fatalities.
According to the Irish Independent, Gardaí, the RSA and road safety campaigners have voiced their surprise at the stark variations in fatal accident rates across the country.
