Labour Councillor Aoife Breslin: Caller Assistance Turns to Malicious Damage in Athy Priest's House Fire

No injuries were reported.

Investigations are continuing into a fire at a priest's residence in Athy yesterday.

It's understood that the fire on the parochial house was intentional, with substantial damage caused to the building.

No injuries were reported.

It's understood that parish priest, Fr. Liam Rigney, is in a "state of shock".

He is believed to be the only resident at the home, which is now understood to be uninhabitable.

Labour Cllr Aoife Breslin said she understands that assistance was given to callers to the house who later came back to cause damage.
