A cold-caller said he would lay tar on a resident's driveway for free but was later intimidated into paying
Gardaí are urging locals to be vigilant of fraudulent 'workers' following an incident that occurred in Allenwood last Thursday.
A resident in the area had a caller to his house who claimed that he was doing roadworks in the area.
The caller said that he had some left over tar and offered to lay the tar on their driveway free of charge.
When the tar was laid the injured party was intimidated into paying a considerable sum of money for the work done.
Of interest to Gardaí is a Grey Volvo XC60 with a UK registration beginning in AVI.
This vehicle may also have removable “Highway Maintenance” stickers on the vehicle.
Two males of interest were observed in this vehicle wearing orange hi-vis clothing.
Also of interest to Gardaí is a UK registered white lorry with "Road Maintenance" markings on the vehicle.
Anyone who may have information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Robertstown Garda Station on 045 860202.
Gardaí are also reminding people to exercise caution when dealing with cold callers, not to engage with them and if unsure to contact their local Garda station.
