A Lucan woman faces the prospect of being homeless after her rented home sustained serious damage following a fire in Lucan last night.
Kfm News understands that the fire started at around 2am this morning at a local business where cars were parked in an outdoor area of the premises. Gardai are treating the incident as criminal damage.
It is understood that at least 8 cars were damaged.
Speaking to Kfm News, Loraine Fenlon said all of her kitchen windows blew in and the house experienced serious smoke damage.
She had been living at an adjoining property for six years.
She said she is still in a state of shock and that thankfully she managed to close her bedroom door, which limited damage to the room.
She has contacted local authorities for help but she said she has been told she needs to provide 12 months of bank statements.
She said her home has experienced significant water damage and that she currently has no idea where she is supposed to go.
Speaking to Kfm, Cllr Caroline Brady (FG) said it is a very "reputable business" and it has been there for as long as she "can remember".
She said she would raise Ms Fenlon's case with council chiefs to highlight the urgency of Ms Fenlon's case.
Investigations into the fire are continuing.
