The 2027 Climate Action Summer Works Scheme supports schools in addressing building condition needs whilst reducing energy use and carbon emissions
An announcement of €80 million in investment for projects across the country has been made today by the Department of Education, under the 2027 Climate Action Summer Works Scheme.
The scheme supports schools in addressing building condition needs while delivering climate action measures.
Those measures include upgrading windows and doors, enhancing insulation, modernising heating systems, installing LED lighting and carrying out other works that improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and lower operational costs.
Approval has been granted for nine schools in Kildare:
- Brannoxtown Community National School, Brannockstown
- Kilkea National School, Kilkea
- St Brigid's National School, Kilcullen
- Scoil Mochua, Celbridge
- Gaelscoil Chill Dara, Newbridge
- Newbridge Educate Together
- St Brigid's Kildare Town Primary School
- Scoil Dara, Kilcock
- St Conleth's Community College, Newbridge
Today's announcement represents the second tranche of approvals under the multi-annual Climate Action Summer Works Scheme arising from applications submitted in 2025.
The Department of Education says there was a particular focus on supporting projects in special schools.
The next round of approvals from the current application pool is expected to be announced in late 2027.
