Drones are already being used to deliver food and medical supplies, capture data, and support rescue services
The predicted surge in drones taking to the skies above Ireland is to be studied over the next two years.
The project is being led by researchers at Maynooth University, in collaboration with Dublin City Council and the Irish Aviation Authority.
Jamie Cudden from the council's Smart City programme says the unmanned aircraft will be a big money-saver, transporting everything from blood samples to takeaways.
Drones are already being used to deliver food and medical supplies, capture data, and support rescue services.
Cudden believes Ireland could become a European leader when it comes to 'Urban Air Mobility'.
