Met Éireann is warning of hazardous conditions and flash flooding in parts of the country due to intense thunderstorms.
Intense lighting strikes struck in parts of the North-West last night, with a number of homes and businesses without power in Donegal, North Sligo and parts of Munster this morning.
A yellow thunderstorm warning is in place for all of Connacht and Sligo until 9 o’clock this morning.
After that a further one comes into effect covering more ground – with counties Monaghan, Clare, Tipperary, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly and Westmeath also included.
Met Éireann says people should expect localised flooding, hail damage, gusty winds and some difficult travelling conditions.
Across the rest of the country, the national yellow high temperature warning remains in place for the rest of the day.
