Kildare County Council has announced the official opening of the new Leixlip Playground at Station Road, alongside a newly constructed car park.
The new playground and car park represent an investment of €1,082,225 in the town's community amenities.
The playground is designed as a benchmark for inclusive play, featuring innovative and engaging play equipment, sensory elements, and accessible features designed to promote imaginative, physical, and social development in a safe and welcoming environment.

The project is part of a broader initiative to enhance community infrastructure in Leixlip, including:
- The construction of the new playground at Station Road, with inclusive play equipment, sensory elements, and accessible design.
- The relocation and refurbishment of the previous playground to The Wonderful Barn, providing an additional high-quality play area.
- The development of a new car park at Station Road, incorporating state-of-the-art Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS). The new car park is a significant “Pathfinder” flagship project, showcasing innovative Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) features that manage stormwater runoff in a sustainable manner, reducing flood risk, improving water quality, and enhancing the areas overall visual appeal.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Cathaoirleach of the County of Kildare, Cllr Carmel Kelly, local elected representatives, and members of the community.
