Dr. Brendan O' Shea fears there won't be enough GPs to keep up with demand.
A Newbridge doctor has raised concerns following the introduction of more GP visit cards.
Under a new expansion announced by Health Minister Stephen Donnelly today, a further 215 thousand people will now be eligible for the cards.
That brings the total number of people able to access free GP care to 850 thousand.
But Assistant Adjuvant Professor in Public Health and Primary Care at Trinity College Dublin, Dr. Brendan O' Shea fears there won't be enough GPs to keep up with demand.
