It comes as a councillor requested that the council outlines the findings from the traffic survey undertaken in May 2025
176,262 vehicles passed through Kilcullen in May 2025, according to a traffic survey.
The survey was commissioned by the Public Realm Team, with an aim to capture traffic flow, density,
parking turnover and pedestrian movements.
It comes as Fine Gael Councillor for the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District, Tracey O' Dwyer requested that the council outlines the findings from the traffic survey undertaken last year.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Cllr O' Dwyer said that Kilcullen was at "breaking point" as a result of the "sheer volume of traffic".
"They're expected to act as a local town centre, while also acting as a straegic through-route."
She also said that local businesses had been affected by parking issues in the area:
"People don't stop to carry out business in Kilcullen, due to difficulty in finding parking."
Cllr O'Dwyer is calling to request Transport Infrastructure Ireland for an access ramp on the M9/M7, as well as the "urgent development" of a ring road around Killcullen.
