Straffan resident Conor McGregor is beginning his attempt to overturn a civil finding that he raped Nikita Hand.
He was found liable by a jury last November of sexually assaulting the former hair colourist at a Dublin hotel in 2018.
She was awarded almost a quarter of a million euro in damages.
