The Psychiatric Nurses Association, headquartered in Sallins, is taking the industrial action after a breakdown in talks with the HSE over the recruitment of core nursing roles in the health service.
Up to 6,500 psychiatric nurses will engage in a work to rule from this morning.

PNA General Secretary Peter Hughes says they are open to discussions but are prepared to go further to get what they want.
