Repairs to the burst in Blakestown were completed at approximately 3pm this afternoon
Water supply is returning to Uisce Éireann customers in Leixlip, Maynooth, Celbridge, and surrounding areas this afternoon following the completion of repair works on a burst water main.
Repairs to the burst in Blakestown, on the R148 Maynooth Road outside Leixlip, were completed at approximately 3pm this afternoon and supply is now returning to normal for impacted customers.
Uisce Éireann advises that it can take three to four hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all properties after an unplanned outage.
Kfm earlier reported that the burst water main caused schools in the Leixlip area to close, due to the buildings having no water.
A separate water outage also impacted North Kildare over the weekend, which has resulted in Social Democrats and Kildare North TD Aidan Farrelly to seek speaking time in the Dáil to call on the Government to take charge of Uisce Éireann.
