New bridge to be open in September 2023
Work begun on the Grand Canal Greenway in Sallins yesterday morning, Wednesday.
The works are expected to take 9-12 months, as per Naas MD Cllr. Bill Clear.
Kilcullen's John Craddock Engineering will build the way in Kildare.
Currently, there is no pedestrian access from the Grange Cafe at the canal, to the railway bridge at Kerdiffstown.
The Social Democrats councillor notes there will be alternative arrangements made regarding access.
He noted the bridge is scheduled to be opened by September 2023 - as students return to schools.
The works will continue from the village to Kerdiffstown, McCreevy's Lock, Ardclough, Cliff at Lyons, then connecting with Dublin.
From there, South Dublin County Council will continue the work.
Cllr. Clear spoke to Eoin Beatty on Wednesday night:
