Taoiseach Michael Martin confirmed this afternoon
A controversial increase in personal injury awards will not go ahead.
There’s been widespread opposition to the proposal to raise awards in the courts by almost 17 per cent.
There had been warnings this increase would lead to a hike in insurance premiums.
