Operation took place in Limerick.

Three men have been arrested in Limerick in connection the attempted robbery of catalytic converters.

At around 12.30am this morning Gardaí received reports of people attempting to tack the equipment from a car at Murroe - they then fled the scene in a red Volkswagen car which had fake licence plates.

The car was then spotted in the Castletroy area shortly where four men were seen getting out of it and into another car at Brookfield Hall housing estate.

As Gardaí approached, the suspects fled on foot.

After a chase three men in their late teens and early 20s were arrested and taken to Henry Street Garda station.
