Local authorities responded to the figures and said in some cases the properties were unsuitable.

Councils failed to fill over 85% of accommodation pledges from the public, to house Ukrainian refugees.

Some local authorities didn't manage to bring any properties on stream, despite receiving hundreds of offers.

Figures released by the Department of Integration shows less than 15 hundred properties of the 9 thousand 800 pledged by the public were activated.

In Donegal, none of the 351 pledges of accommodation were activated by its county council according to the data, with 86 of these properties withdrawn.

Local authorities responded to the figures, claiming in some cases, the number of properties that were unsuitable or were no longer available was higher than suggested.

For example, government figures state Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown saw 46 withdrawals, but council told The Irish Times that figure was actually 135.

Cork City Council said 40 of the 242 properties assigned to it were given to it incorrectly, while Sligo County Council said 134 of its properties were withdrawn compared to the 110 included in the government data.
