A Garda was left with a lump on his forehead the size of a tennis ball after an alleged assault in Dublin city centre in the early hours of yesterday morning.

35-year-old Domnic Gallagher, of Dunluce Avenue, Belfast, is charged with assault causing harm to a member of An Garda Síochána.
The court heard he flagged down Gardaí outside a hostel on Aston Quay after being refused entry.
Gardaí were told he had allegedly racially abused staff.
It’s alleged Gardaí asked him to leave the area, but he refused.
When they tried to arrest him, he allegedly resisted and assaulted them.
The court heard Garda Adam Hanlon suffered a lump on his forehead the size of a tennis ball and a chipped tooth.
It’s also alleged Mr Gallagher grabbed a Garda baton and tried to use it.
He was remanded in custody until tomorrow, when the judge will consider granting bail if proof of an address in Dublin is provided.
