A billionaire financier has told the Housing Minister that investment funds are 'having a laugh' at the government, and making a lot of money in the process.
The Business Post reports that Dermot Desmond sent letters to Minister Darragh O'Brien and Taoiseach Micheal Martin.
He said buying and leasing social homes from private developers and investment funds, was a criminal waste of money.
Mr Desmond insisted that allowing the private market to dictate the price of social housing, is a shocking mis-management of public funds.
