Dozens Of Sites Across The Country Could Be Contaminted With "Forever Chemicals", Linked To Cancer And Infertility

The chemicals have been found at a number of sample sites at Dublin Airport's campus.

So-called "forever chemicals" have been found at a number of sample sites across Dublin Airport's campus.

It's thought dozens of sites across the country could be contaminated with the potentially dangerous substances.

The findings follow a two-year investigation at Dublin Airport into the presence of PFAS, that have been linked globally to health issues including cancers and infertility.

The results of the monitoring programme of ground water, surface water and soil sampling at the north Dublin campus is expected to be published today.

Some of the highest concentrations were found at the airport's former fire fighting training ground where PFAS foam had been used until 2013.

The chemicals are in a number of products including clothing and frying pans with landfills and pharma plants among the sites contaminated with the substances worldwide.
