The board analysed the Department of Education's Primary School Survey.
Almost 300 primary schools across the country should consider changing from a Catholic patronage model to become multi-denominational in the next year.
That's according to Education and Training Boards Ireland, which analysed the Department of Education's Primary School Survey.
It says the recommended schools are where there's a majority preference for multi-denominational education expressed by parents and guardians.
A Department of Education survey found over 40pc of parents would prefer a multi-denominational school for their children, rather than the Catholic school they currently attend.
Education and Training Boards Ireland has analysed that data and identified 278 primary schools which may be suitable for a change in patronage.
