The collision also claimed the lives of five teenage boys.
Three women and a young boy remain in hospital following a road collision that claimed the lives of five teenage boys on the M9 motorway yesterday.
A post mortem on their bodies is due to be carried out today.
The car carrying the five teenagers was being driven down the M9 motorway in the wrong direction, when it collided head on with another car.
It's understood the teenagers were aged between 14 and 16 years old, while the occupants of the other car included two women in their 30s, a woman in her 20s and a young child.
The bodies of the five teenagers were taken to Naas General Hospital where a post mortem examination is due to be carried out today.
The women and child remain in hospital this morning with Gardai describing their injuries as serious.
Yesterday a forensic examination of the scene took place, before the heavily damaged cars were removed last night.
Gardai say they're continuing to investigate all the circumstances of the collision.
