A murder investigation has been launched into the death of a woman in her 70s in County Kerry yesterday.
She's been named locally as Miriam Burns, a 75 year old Grandmother and Mother of four.
The scene remains sealed off for a full technical and forensic examination.
A post mortem was carried out on the body of Miriam Burns but the results are not being released for operational reasons.
She was found dead at her residence in Ardshanavooley, Killarney at approximately 1:15pm on Monday.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone persons who were in the area between 5pm on Friday and 1pm on Monday to come forward.
It is understood that the woman had sustained head and neck injuries which do not appear to be consistent with a fall.
