A new action plan will replace the current guidelines on money laundering and terrorist financing.

Tighter regulations on casinos, cryptocurrency and big money spenders are on the way.

The Government is set to announce new plans to tackle financial crime this morning.

A new action plan will replace the current guidelines on money laundering and terrorist financing.

It's understood new regulations will be announced for the gambling industry, while the source of money will also be subject to closer inspection.

People who fancy a couple of designer items should also expect scrutiny - as amongst the changes will be an appeal to retailers to report big money spenders, or unusual shopping habits.

The series of recommendations will be announced by Justice Minister Jim O' Callaghan, and Tánaiste and Finance Minister Simon Harris later on today.
