Follows publication of Rental Tenancies Board analysis

The government has been urged to examine the tax treatment of small landlords to keep them in the rental market.

It's after Residential Tenancy Board figures showed a 58% increase in the number of evictions in the first half of 2022.

According to the report, most landlords are exiting private rental market & selling their property.

Chief Executive of the charity Threshold, John Mark McCafferty, says the high tax on small landlords is part of that:

The figures, obtained by Sinn Féin's Eoin O Broin, reveal almost 3,000 notices to quit were issued to the end of June.
