Punchestown is one of 20 new nationwide centres
The HSE is reporting high numbers turning up at walk-in Covid vaccination centres across the country.
Punchestown Racecourse is one of 20 nationwide centres which opened on Saturday morning.
The Kildare clinic was available for walk in vaccinations from 9 am to 12.15pm
It will re-open between 1.15 and 4.30 on Sunday afternoon and will be open again on Monday between 9 and 12.15.
The centres are only for those aged over 16 who have yet to receive their first dose.
800 people were vaccinated in the first hour and a half at the walk-in facility in City West.
The HSE's national lead for the vaccination programme, Damien McCallion, says people can go to any centre in Ireland.
People aged 16 or older can attend. These clinics are for your first dose only. You do not need to be registered or have an appointment. ➡ https://t.co/WufRfMh0Uu#VaccinesSaveLives #ForUsAll
