The Lynskey family and all relevant parties have been informed of the results
Efforts to locate the remains of Joe Lynskey, one of the Disappeared who vanished in 1972, have faced another setback. Human remains exhumed from Annyalla Cemetery, Co. Monaghan, on November 26, 2024, have been confirmed through DNA testing not to belong to Lynskey or any of the Disappeared. The remains also do not match the family associated with the grave.
The Lynskey family and all relevant parties have been informed of the results. The Commission expressed its deep disappointment at the outcome and extended its thoughts to the family during this difficult time.
Separately, in a search operation in Coghalstown, Co. Meath, remains were discovered, but it was later determined that the grave contained two bodies. Investigations are ongoing.
