A man in his 40s has been arrested
Gardaí in Waterford City are continuing to investigate a fatal assault, after a woman in her 40s died yesterday evening.
Emergency services were called to an incident at a home in Grange Heights just after 6pm yesterday, in which the injured woman was transported to University Hospital Waterford.
She died a short time later.
The house remains cordoned off this lunchtime, and the Garda Technical Bureau has arrived, as well as local people who have paid their respects by leaving flowers outside the house.
Gardaí are currently making door-to-door enquiries.
A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at a Garda Station in Waterford, where he can be held for up to 24 hours before being charged or released.
