He’s currently serving a life sentence for the murder of the 23-year-old in Tullamore in 2022.
Jozef Puska appeared before the Court of Appeal this morning, with the aid of a Slovakian interpreter.
His appeal against his conviction was due to be heard in April, but was delayed after members of his legal team made an application to withdraw from the case, as a result of instructions from Mr Puska.
Today, his barrister told the court he was abandoning his conviction appeal.
Mr Puska was handed a mandatory life sentence for the murder of Ashling Murphy.
A hearing will take place next week, where the court was told an application will be made to assess any merit in backdating this sentence to reflect time spent in custody on remand.
Jozef Puska won’t appear in court for that hearing.
