The Road Safety Authority is reminding people there will be a huge increase in ‘school-going traffic’ in the coming days

28 children in Kildare lost their lives or were seriously injured on Irish roads between 2021-2025, according to a new report.

The Child Casualties Report 2021-2025 by the Road Safety Authority highlights the risks children aged 0-15 face when using the roads.

The report has been released as children prepare to return to school this week, with drivers, parents and children being encouraged to take extra care on the roads.

The RSA's report found 38 children under the age of sixteen were killed on the roads between 2021-2025.

One in eight child casualties were travelling to and from school at the time of the collision.

The county that saw the highest number of children killed/seriously injured was Dublin, at a figure of 209.
