Lidl is to open 20 stores in Ireland over the next three years.
The German supermarket chain says the expansion is part of a €550 million euro investment into its operations here.
24 existing stores will be redeveloped and its regional distribution centre in Mullingar will be given a €75 million upgrade.
Lidl currently has 160 stores nationwide, including five in Kildare, and employs more than 5,000 people.
