A man will appear in court this morning, charged with a serious assault at a church in Tramore, County Waterford.
A woman in her 50s sustained stab wounds in the incident yesterday morning.
Yesterday before 10am mass at the Holy Cross Church in Tramore, a woman in her 50s sustained serious injuries, after she was attacked while praying.
Gardaí and emergency services were notified of the incident at around 9:45am.
The woman was taken to University Hospital Waterford with serious, but non life threatening injuries.
A knife was seized, and technically examined.
A man aged in his 30s was arrested at a house nearby yesterday, and has since been charged.
He's due to appear before Waterford District Court this morning.
