Trainee teachers could soon take a mandatory placement in special education, in a bid to increase school places.
The Minister for Education has written to the Teaching Council, in attempt to increase the number of teachers who are trained to teach children with additional needs.
About one in 20 schoolchildren are being diagnosed with autism, and parents have held protests to highlight the lack of school places available.
